Imerys offers a range of graded minerals for the production of composite boards used in the construction industry.
Fibre Cement Boards
Fiber cement boards are typically used as siding or tile underlay. Imerys Raw Graded Perlite, when expanded to a lightweight aggregate, provides these products with unit weight reduction, higher thermal and acoustic insulation and improved freeze-thaw and fire resistance. During processing, it works as a bonding aid between the layers forming the board.
Imerys Micrasil, is a superfine pozzolanic material that, among other benefits, adds plasticity to the product during processing, allowing the layered sheet to adjust to the shape of the mold without cracking or delaminating. It reduces the microporosity of the final board, improving freeze thaw resistance, bending performance and durability.
Cement Boards
Cement boards are a combination of cement and reinforcing fibers typically formed into 1.2 m x 2.7m boards. They can be nailed or screwed to wood or steel studs to create a substrate for tile or used on the exterior of buildings as a base for stucco systems or as the finish system itself.
Imerys Raw Graded Perlite, when expanded, provides these boards with unit weight reduction and improved thermal and the acoustical insulation.
Fire Resistant Insulating Boards
Imerys Raw Graded Perlite, when expanded, offers unit weight reduction and fire resistance in elevated temperatures for these boards.
