Welcome to Imerys Civil Engineering
Imerys Civil Engineering stands for optimum solutions with industrial minerals for the construction industry.
Imerys Civil Engineering has emerged from the IBECO brand after S&B’s strategic combination with Imerys. Since the former brand IBECO founding in 1988 we have become one oft he world´s leading suppliers of specialty bentonites and additives for the construction and civil engineering industries.
World-Class Products, Specially Tailored Solutions
Our portfolio includes bentonites and finely ground clay products, as well as mineral mixtures and additives that can be used in dry powder and/or granular form or in slurries, which offer special rheological properties.
Depending on a customer’s specific requirements, our experts develop tailored IBECO products aligned to the conditions encountered on site. Whether working in general civil engineering or foundation works, environmental applications, tunnel boring, drilling, mining or construction, together with the customer, we find the right solution for the job.
Superior Technical Support
Our customers with their specific requirements are at the center of our ambitions to provide them optimum quality products, competent technical advice and laboratory service, as well as efficient logistics in order to contribute significantly to their success.
History
In June 1988, IBECO Bentonit-Technologie GmbH was first established in Mannheim. S&B Industrial Minerals S.A., Greece (at that time known as Silver & Baryte Ores Mining Co. S.A.) and IKO Industriekohle GmbH & Co. KG, Marl, became equal partners in the IBECO Joint Venture.
In 2015 S&B becomes part of the Imerys Group and IBECO becomes Imerys Civil Engineering.
Innovation
We have created through the years a close relationship with tunneling and ground engineering contractors understanding their problems and their needs. These needs have been transformed to new products and innovative solutions based on the strong knowhow in the application technology of bentonite for civil engineering.
Indicative examples of innovation are:
- Bentonite granular product for the slurry shield tunneling, so as to control better the fluid loss of the slurry in soils with high gravel content
- Salt stable bentonite for civil engineering applications in soils that there is high salinity and that common bentonites collapses
