Imerys provides a range of high quality minerals and additives that provide reliable cost-effective solutions for the production of various types of concrete.
High-performance concrete (HPC) is a new type of concrete that conforms to a set of properties like strength, water and chloride permeability and resistance to alkali silica reaction that leads to long service life in severe environments. This set of properties is achieved with the use of supplementary cementitious material (SCM) like silica fume, natural pozzolans, fly ash and slag.
HPC is specified in the most of current infrastructure projects such as bridges, airports, highways and in demanding projects like skyscrapers and high rising buildings, especially in regions with extreme climatic or environmental conditions (Middle East, North America, North Europe, Japan).
Imerys provides a very effective, mineral based, cementitious material under the name Micrasil that provides a highly effective, consistent solution for HPC applications.
Lightweight concrete is characterized by a low loose bulk density (below 2000 Kg/m3) and high thermo-acoustic properties. It is produced by partial or total replacement of the aggregates in the concrete by lightweight aggregates. As aggregates for lightweight concrete, Imerys Raw Graded Perlite lead to low densities (below 1,200 Kg/m3) and very good thermo-acoustical insulation properties. Lightweight concrete, depending on the achieved strength, can be used in structural and non-structural elements of a building.
The main uses of the perlite lightweight concrete are leveling concrete between roofs, thermo-acoustic insulation fillings, slope formation in flat roofs, insulation material in vertical paraments through formworks in prefabricated houses, and in the rebuilding and restoration of roofs and deteriorated terraces etc.
